The Paradox of Our Age

keep your promise

you don’t believe in god, but you know there’s something higher than us

you go to the train tracks, sit in the middle & wait for the train to come

you hear it coming, close your eyes & cry

you’re finally ready

minutes later you can’t figure out why you can hear the train now passing you.

why are you in the grass next to the train tracks, when you were just in the middle of the train track?

something higher than us has moved you

something higher than us wants you here

they know it’s not your time yet

give them the chance they gave you

pick yourself up, for the sun is shining & i’m here with you

together we will live

together we will die

you weren’t with me that day

therefore you didn’t die.

all you can do is turn to the person sitting next you you

look them in the eyes

and say its a damn shame

I don’t know how to answer. I know what I think, but words in the head are like voices underwater. They are distorted.

i don’t really want much more out of life,

only to go quickly, & some time soon.

its hurting to feel unwanted
